Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (or TDS) is a clinical spectrum of conditions caused either by a lack of production of the hormone testosterone or by reduction in effects on tissues of the body caused by other co-morbid health conditions. Most commonly, we see this association with the diabetes mellitus or obesity – known as the Metabolic Syndrome
The hormone Testosterone is not only linked with effects on male sexual function, but acts on many other organs and tissues of the body thereby its deficiency can have a wide range of effects
It Is thought that around one in every 200men in the general population will have TDS. However TDS is sometimes undetected, as the symptoms are discrete and usually put down to ageing.
Usually, once assessed and diagnosed treatment can be initiated easily by application of topical gel, Injection, tablet or implant
